Turn your most interesting hands into Bridge Problems!
With the contract Bridge Diary app you can quickly log your played hands or copy/make an interesting one up. Go back and analyze any hand to learn from your (partner's) mistakes. Perfect for both beginners and advanced players who want to discuss fun deals and love the game. ...or enjoy arguing later of who's fault it really was. :)
The Bridge Diary app can score and save your played hands, it also evaluates HCP and Total Point strength. It is a tool - NOT A GAME. It is an extension & combination of the FREE contract Bridge Bidding Box and Bridge Score Calculator apps. Try them out first if you are unsure.
The Bridge Diary is an excellent tool for Contract Bridge teachers as examples can be displayed on any modern TV with the use of a HDMI cable.
Place your Tablet/Phone in the middle of the table for your at-home-game. 4 players can bid using only one device. The Bridge Diary replaces the need for manual scoring, record keeping, and bidding cards.
Ever dreamed about making your own Bridge column?
-A screenshot of the app is all you need for posting a problem on Twitter and Facebook.
Requirements:
Adobe® AIR® (separate download - Adobe® AIR® is the new Flash® player for apps)
Android 2.2 and later
Both Tablets and Mobile Phones are supported.
Instructions:
1. Select orientation by tapping the START button aligned to your preferred view/position. Note! South is the default view for the Score Board and any text entry. The app works best on the side.
2. Select number of HUMAN bidders that will interact with the application. This sets the alignment for how the bidding boxes appear.
3. Anyone can start being the dealer but North is the default dealer for Board 1 and standard vulnerability rotation. Tap the "Tap to Bid" to make a bid. Tap the board number to change it. Note that you may need to change vulnerability to match the current board number. See TD menu.
4. This is your bidding box. The arrows points towards who is currently bidding. Bids will become available/unavailable as bidding progresses. Tap on the bid you wish to make. Step 2 above decides how the Bidding frame is displayed.
Next bidder in turn can now bid by tapping "Tap to Bid" or the Turn Arrow
See Undo section for Undo.
Tap Previous Bid to make new bid
5. Bidding will end after 3 consecutive PASS bids. Bidding will now be hidden and only final contract and who is Declarer/Lead is displayed on the Next Board menu.
Play the cards now. Stay at this screen.
You can review Bidding and Undo last bid if needed.
Note! Currently only 7 rounds of bidding is supported. -You should have made it to 7 NTxx already by then :)
6. After playing the board, tap [Score this Hand]
Score the hand by +/- the tricks taken.
7. Now you have the option to enter data about the hand you just played.
The hand data will be saved after "Next Board" is pressed.

Tap the Suit of the Lead
Tap the specific card lead.
The Lead selected is displayed.
Lead set can be changed by tapping the Set Lead button again
9. Set Cards: -- Hand Evaluation --
The purpose here is to collect the 52 cards you just played in a "who had what card". This is done by first selecting the suit from the bottom right, then drag and drop each card on each N/S/E/W box. Repeat until all 52 cards are assigned. This is really EASY and fun and can be made fast with some practice!
Tap the Help to see Help. Tap again to hide.
Tap Reset to reset ALL cards.
Tap a Suit to get started.
Assigned cards are shown faded out and the card is displayed on the resp. N/S/E/W box.
Any assigned card can be reassigned. Simply select the suit and tap the faded out card.
As you assign the cards, the number of cards each player has, his/her current HCP and Total Points is displayed. Great for Beginners!
TIP! Given the time constraint in tournaments and showing good bridge etiquette: Setting all cards may be hard to do in between deals. Put a quick comment on the deal and go back to edit this deal later via the scoreboard. You can always add the cards later. You do not have to add ALL cards.
After you have assigned the cards close by tapping the [X] you will return to the Hand Data Menu. Now the cards you have assigned are visible and the bidding is made smaller.
10. Tap Add Comment to open up a text field for entering a comment. Tap the text field to add/edit comments. When done, you can re-activate editing of the text field by the Edit Comment button.
11. Vulnerability/Dealer is automatically set.
Undo:
Any bid in the current board can be undone. Simply tap the last bid made to bring up a choice to undo the bid. Last bid can also be undone from the TD menu.
TD Menu:
Tap the "TD" button in the center to access options to change current vulnerability and turn vulnerability rotation on/off. On the TD menu you can also undo last bid and perform various resets. Instructions and ability to contact support can also be found here.
My ScoreBoard:
Here is where you can see all your past hands and scores. You can access this from both the TD menu and the Intro Menu.
You can delete a board by tapping the Delete Board button on top left. It will enable deleting boards.
If the app seems sluggish, delete some old boards no longer needed. Restart the app by using the Menu button on your phone to exit the app.
Tap the View Board to view/Edit your board. This is the optimal place for a screenshot!
Tap the Edit Hand to enable three buttons for changing Lead, Comment, and Cards.
Quit:
You can quit the application at anytime by clicking your device's menu button. It will bring up a prompt asking if you want to quit.
Screen Time Out:
This application does not have access to your device's screen settings. Don't worry if the screen blacks out while you are playing the deal as it saves your battery. Once reactivated, this app will take you back just where you left off.
